Thrifty White prepares to open it’s 90th store in Duluth.  The new location will be a closed door pharmacy serving the needs of Nursing Home and Assisted Living patients throughout the area.  The company operates two similar pharmacies in Brainerd and Maple Grove.  The new pharmacy will take care of the daily needs of the nursing facilities and will receive much support from Thrifty’s Central Long Term Care Pharmacy in Fargo.  Much of the filling and checking of prescriptions is done in a large central pharmacy in Fargo thereby allowing the Duluth pharmacy to focus on the new patients and prescription changes for the local patients.  Some of the staff from the pharmacy in Cloquet will transfer to the new facility.  Two new pharmacist positions have been created by this expansion.

Thrifty’s Independent Retailer program also continues to grow.  Thirteen new Independent Retailers recently joined to bring the number of associated pharmacies to sixty.  This program allows independently owned pharmacies to participate in lower contract rates, supplier services, advertising and merchandising programs which improves the bottom line for the independent owner.  It gives Thrifty White a nice growth avenue when those owners decide to sell their stores.
